At about a three-hour drive from Istanbul, I woke up in the magical Kerpe. Located along Kocaeli's 52 km stretch of Black Sea coastline, Kerpe is a sheltered bay and part of Kandira district in the Northwest of Turkey's Anatolia Region. Just like many cities in Turkey, Kerpe is overwhelmed with visitors, but its sheltered qualities of harbour town and its unique beauty make it an ideal holiday destination- from fine sandy beach, beautiful rock formation, pine forested hills and blue seas and pleasant little seafood restaurants lining the beach. If you are arriving by flight, the nearest airports are 143 km away in Istanbul. It is possible to reach Kerpe from Izmit (a two-hour drive) via national bus service into Izmit Otogar (main bus terminal). Here's how I made my summer seaside weekend to Kerpe, Black Sea Coast.

Eat Seafood
For meals, walk straight to best restaurants in town that lines the beach, where you can find a perfect sea foods that could be fresher than the one in Istanbul
Hit the Beach
For those who cannot swim, you still can enjoy the beach as the water is shallow and calm
Stay Active
I played volley ball at the beach, and jumped over the beautiful cliff to the Black Sea. Don't you see how calm and clear the water is?
Picnic & BBQ
Why not?
Where to Stay
My friends and I rented a tend just right behind the beach. Fyi, Kerpe is necessarily built for tourists, so lodging options are numerous, ranging from bungalows and apartments to hotels
