Currently I'm in Bandung city for several matters and in the meantime I want to share you guys my travel photo diary to Hong Kong I captured while I was there 4 months ago for 48 hours. I know it seemed not enough to properly inhale and play tourist, but no worries. I still got it, the best things to do in Hong Kong. To think in mind, just a couple of days visiting Hong Kong, seems like you need lot of hours to recover from jet lag? and plane feeling after taking international flight anywhere you go in this world. Well, maybe all you need is tons of coffee and tea. So here is how I spent my 48 hours in Hong Kong.
Checked In - Tsim Sha Tsui
I took the red cab over, and other green one takes you to another part of Hong Kong. Lesson learned for my 1st time in the city: locals have their own call for tourists attractions in Hong Kong, so make sure you know the exact place you want to go to, a road name simply helps. I ended staying at the Best Western Grand Hotel in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui next to Nathan Road where all the shops and restaurants are located, and 5-10 minutes walk to nearby MTR station. Greeted by a lovely stuff upon arrival, who sat us in their small.. room, but with an outstanding view from above.
Wandered
You can't understand a city without using its public transportation system. That is probably one of my favorite things to do in any city I go. Just a 12 minutes walk from our hotel is Jordan MTR station, and 8 minutes from Jordan to Central... and it didn't just stop there. It took 16 minutes walk from Central to the Peak Tram Terminus - the quickest and most scenic way to finally arrive at the Sky Terrace 428 at The Peak and also the best way to enjoy the ultimate panoramic views of Hong Kong, which offers 360 degree views that is an absolute and one of places to visit in Hong Kong without question necessity. As I recall, it's one of the moments where you're in awe walking outside and you realize that travel makes one modest, you see a tiny place you occupy in this world. That view was truly magnificent.
Stunned
Upon enjoying the views of the Peak, I was stunned, got cold, and stumbled upon a seafood restaurant called Bubba Gump located at the Victoria Peak, Hong Kong. Hear me now: quite possibly the best fusion seafood I've ever had so far. Anyway, stop by anytime while in Hong Kong. I had bourbon fish with Cajun shrimp as main course and run across america sampler (Bubba's far out dip and chips, deep fried calamari, spicy chicken strips, and fried shrimp). Here people chill, sip beers, stunning view and great foods. Yeah what an eat moment. Anyway, continue my wandering, I ended up at Central Business District - surrounded by the glass and steel of nearby skyscrapers this is one of Hong Kong's loudest hangouts, most noted night-spots, buzzing with fashionable locals and trendy tourists. Had myself seek a cool place to hang out and enjoy a few drinks.
Seven hours had easily gone by and the midnight was about to begin. Speaking of which, Hong Kong people have a very fast pace of life. They do everything fast. In this exciting metropolis, visitors cannot help but feel this remarkable atmosphere created by the locals. I would say Hong Kong is a terribly small city.. in a good way, obviously.
Wandered.. Some More..
So to kick off the trip, I woke up early for a early morning breakfast outside and spent the rest of the day exploring Tsim Sha Tsui and shopping in Mong Kok. Mark my words when I tell you to put Hong Kong sightseeing at Victoria Harbor City on your bucket list - is one of the city's most iconic symbols and probably the most photographed spot in Hong Kong. One of the highlights from my nonstop-walking adventure day 2 is always get your feet back on the ground, it took 6 hours walking and still counting. We finally ended up at Causeway Bay and set to explore the vibrant district, a perfect place to enjoy the city's famous lights at night. Oh! shopping here is a must, with mega shopping malls and luxury brands are some things you cannot avoid to see. It was truly an exhausting day. Trust me.
See ya
It's an easy thing to let time fly here. By this point, the trip was coming to an end. I had also heard great things about dim sum, there was only 9 hours left... so it was now or never to try the best dim sum in Hong Kong. We still ventured into Causeway Bay and tried a super yummy dim sum called Fook Lam Moon. Hear me now: Never missed a bite for dim sum in Hong Kong. We then had brunch and spent the rest of our time we got, being ended up at Victoria's Park Hong Kong. We meet lot of Indonesian household assistant. They have been working here for a quite long time, some even have been here for 10 to 15 years. I was shocked back then. And... Finally we did it, the last day was breathtaking. It's simply the best way to enjoy and visit Hong Kong. Hope you enjoyed!
